Error Messages
Chapter 6 - Error Messages
The left column (
LCD Error Messages
) displays the error messages that can appear in the
LCD Display during normal system operation. The right column defines the problem and
suggests possible causes and operator remedies. Any problem that an operator can not
solve or that obviously involves mechanical fixes, or hardware replacement should be referred
to qualified service technician - either NBS, authorized Dealer, or authorized Service Provider
technician. Unauthorized repairs performed by un-trained technicians can void your warranty.

LCD Error
Message
Description
Broken or
missing foil
Problem:
No detected motion of Printer Foil.
Cause:
Printer is out of foil, the foil is broken or not properly
threaded, Foil Motor bad, or sensor is bad.
Operator
Replace foil or fix broken foil or re-thread.
Action:
For mechanical problems contact NBS Service Rep.
Card Pick Error
Problem:
Hopper detected as being empty while trying to pick card.
Cause:
Hopper empty, or bad sensor
Operator
Re-load Hopper
Action:
For mechanical problems contact NBS Service Rep.
Card stuck in
transport
Problem:
Card detected in transport after flush attempt.
Cause:
Bent card, bad sensor, transport Motor bad, a “jumped”
drive belt, or “Flush Speed” at wrong setting.
Operator
Remove bent or jammed card and try again. Check
Action:
“Flush Speed” setting if allowed.
For mechanical
problems contact NBS Service Rep.
Cleaning Timeout
Problem:
Problem occurred during cleaning process.
Cause:
Low or broken cleaning tape, bad sensor, or bad
cleaning tape drive motor.
Operator
Replace or fix cleaning foil

Action:
For mechanical problems contact NBS Service Rep.
Encoding Position
Error

Problem:
Start sentinel not found at correct position on track

is number of encoding track with problem.
Cause:
Bent card, Magnetic Encoder Head possibly out of
alignment, start sentinel has wrong setting (
check
“Encode Start”, “Encode W/R Delay”, “Wheel Count to
Edge”, and “Start Check Tolerance” parameters
).
