SECTION 4
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL
4.1
This section provides the information
required to place the transmitter in operation.
Normally, the transmitter will not be attended during
use. The following instructions are primarily
intended for persons involved in testing or
maintenance of the equipment.
EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE
4.2
There are no special precautions to be
taken if an emergency shutdown is required. Switch
off transmitter by setting
POWER
switch S3 (see
figure MD-1) to its
OFF
position and then, if
necessary, turn off AC power at the service entrance
and the DC power at its source.
CONTROLS AND INDICATORS
4.3
The following paragraphs list assemblies
that contain controls and indicators, identify
illustrations that depict their location and markings
and reference tables that describe their purpose and
function.
4.3.1
FRONT PANEL CONTROLS AND
INDICATORS
: Figure MD-1 (front view) and
figure MD-2 (rear view of front panel) depict the
controls and indicators on the front panel. Table 4-2
is keyed to the reference designation assigned each
control/indicator and explains their function.
4.3.2
KEYER PWB CONTROLS AND
INDICATORS
: Figure MD-3 depicts the location of
keyer PWB A3 and figure MD-8 depicts the location
of its controls and indicators. Table 4-3 is keyed to
the reference designation assigned each control and
explains their function.

MODULATOR DRIVE PWB
CONTROLS
: Figure MD-3 depicts the location of
modulator driver PWB A4 and figure MD-9 depicts
the location of its controls. Table 4-4 is keyed to the
reference designation assigned each control and
explains their function.

MONITOR PWB CONTROLS AND
INDICATORS
: Figure MD-3 depicts the location of
monitor PWB A5 and figure MD-10 depicts the
location of its controls and indicators. Table 4-5 is

HARMONIC FILTER CONTROLS

RF synthesizer printed wiring board A9. Refer to its
service instructions manual to locate specific
controls. Table 4-7 is keyed to the reference

+24-48 VDC POWER SUPPLY PWB
CONTROLS AND INDICATORS
: Figure MD-4
depicts the location of op24-48 VDC Power
Supply PWB A10 and figure MD-15 depicts the
location of its controls and indicators. Table 4-8 is
keyed to the reference designation assigned each
control/indicator and explains their function.

LOW VOLTAGE SUPPLY ON/OFF

location of power supply assembly A1 and figure
