E&M Parameters. The parameters applicable to the E&M telephony interface type are shown in the figure
below and described in the table that follows.

Interface E&M enables E&M functionality
Type Types 1-5. Refers to the type of E&M interface being used.
Mode 2-wire or 4-wire Each E&M interface type can be either 2-wire or 4-wire audio.
Signal Dial Tone or
Wink When Dial Tone is selected, no wink is required on the E lead or M
lead in the call initiation or setup.
When Wink is selected, a wink is required during call setup.
Wink Timer
(in ms) integer values,
in milliseconds This is the length of the wink for wink signaling.
Applicable only when Signal parameter is set to “Wink.”
No Response
Timer integer values (in
seconds) The value here denotes the time (in seconds) after which the call
attempt would be disconnected by the FXO Interface because there
was no answer.
Disconnect on
Call Progress
Tone Y/N Allows call on FXO port to be disconnected when a PBX issues a call-
progress tone denoting that the phone station on the PBX that has been
involved in the call has been hung up.
