6.12.1 Engine oil – Level check
Preconditions

Engine is stopped and starting disabled.
Oil level check prior to engine
start
1.
Withdraw dipstick from guide tube and
wipe it.
2.
Insert dipstick into guide tube to stop,
withdraw after approx. 10 seconds and
check oil level.
Note:
After extended standstill, the oil level may
exceed the mark (1) by up to 2 cm. This
can be caused by oil flowing from e.g. oil
filter or heat exchanger back to the oil pan.
3.
The oil level must reach mark (1) or exceed
mark (1) by up to 2 cm.
4.
Top up with oil to mark (1) as necessary
(→ Page 175).
5.
Insert dipstick into guide tube up to the
stop.
Oil level check after the engine is stopped
1.
5 minutes after stopping the engine, remove oil dipstick from the guide tube and wipe it.
2.
Insert dipstick into guide tube to stop, withdraw after approx. 10 seconds and check oil level.
3.
Oil level must be between marks (1) and (2).
4.
Top up with oil to mark (1) as necessary (→ Page 175).
5.
Insert dipstick into guide tube up to the stop.
