7.10.1 Intercooler – Checking condensate drain line for coolant discharge and
obstruction
DANGER
Unguarded rotating and moving engine components.
Risk of serious injury – danger to life!
• Take special care when working on a running engine.
WARNING
Engine noise above 85 dB (A).
Risk of damage to hearing!

Checking intercooler condensate
drain line for coolant discharge and
obstruction
1.
With the engine running, check the conden‐
sate drain line on engine driving end for air
discharge.
2.
If no air emerges, remove condensate drain
line and blow out with compressed air.
3.
Replace obstructed drain line by new one.
4.
Install condensate drain line.
5.
If a large amount of coolant is continuously
discharged, the intercooler is leaking. Con‐
tact Service.
Emergency measures prior to engine start with a leaking intercooler
1.
Remove injectors (→ Page 183).
2.
Bar engine manually (→ Page 166).
3.
Bar engine with starting system to blow out cylinder chambers (→ Page 167).
