Leak test
6.1
Leak test of mask
The tightness test of the mask can be performed with the following test devices after the inhalation and exhalation
valves have been sealed and observing the respective instruction for use:
·
MSA AUER Mask Leak Tester
·
Adapter, Mask Leak Test (PS or AutoMaXX)
·
Test Cap for Exhalation-Valve 3S, Positive Pressure
·
MSA AUER Muiltitest Case
·
Test Harness
The mask is considered tight if at a positive pressure or a negative pressure of 7.5 mbar inside the facepiece the
pressure change after one minute does not exceed 0.5 mbar.
6.2
Leak test of exhalation valve
The exhalation valve is also tested with the above mentioned test devices observing the relevant instructions for
use.
The exhalation valve is considered tight if, with a moistened exhalation valve, at a negative pressure of 10 mbar in-
side the facepiece the pressure change after one minute does not exceed 1 mbar.
6.3
Opening pressure test of exhalation-valve
The opening pressure of the exhalation valve can be checked with the MSA AUER multitest case. It must be least
4,2 mbar.

1) For a 2-year interval it is imperative that cleaned and disinfected masks are stored airtight. Otherwise the semi an-
nual interval is valid. After each cleaning and disinfection the facepieces must be checked.
2)
Only for units which are stored airtight
*)
Facepieces which are regulary used should be cleaned and disinfected as often as required. They should be
cleaned as soon as possible after each use because perspiration or saliva that dries unto the valves could cause
malfunctions. The mask must be disinfected at least before it is used by another persons. If different or local regu-
lations are in force these have to be observed (e.g. shorter intervals because of higher risk).
8
Storage
The mask should be stored in the Advantage Carrier.
In order to prevent damage or distortion of the mask, no additional objects must be stored in the carrier, apart from
the filter in the purpose-built location.
Storage must be in clean, dry and normal climate, i.e. cool, dry and free from hazardous material, protected against
light and radiant heat. It is recommended to observe German Standard DIN 7716:82, and ISO 2230:73.
