33--00--00 -- GENERAL -- DESCRIPTION AND OP-
ERATION
High intensity strobe lights are standard equipment on
M20TN aircraft. The lights are located adjacent to the
wing tip navigation lights and incorporated in the rudder
assembly. The system has 2 power supplies; one lo-
cated on the baggage wall (for wing tips) and the other
is mounted on LH rear access panel of tailcone (for tail
strobe). The system is actuated by a 10 amp circuit
breaker/switch located on forward O/H instrument pan-
el between pilot & co--pilot (Figure 33--1).
Navigation lights are located on each wing tip. The
lights are activated by a 10 amp circuit breaker/switch
located on forward O/H instrument panel between pilot
& co--pilot (Figure 33--1).
Four (total) 110,000 candle power Landing/Taxi lights ,
with sealed beam bulbs, are located in LH & RH leading
edge section of wing. The lights are protected by two 25
amp circuit breakers, and actuated by split switches lo-
cated on forward O/H switch panel between pilot & co--
pilot. The switches are used to illuminate both landing
and taxi lights, or either one, as needed (Figure 33--1).
Optional xenon landing and taxi lights are available.
The electrical supply to the xenon lamp(s) is controlled
by a bracket mounted ballast located directly behind
the landing/taxi light assembly.
O/H instrument panel is an “Electroluminescent Backlit
Panel” comprised of two wires feeding the internal cir-
cuitry within the panel layer. The panel gets power from
an inverter (28V to 115V) which is mounted to the head-
liner panel.
Two pair of 24 volt overhead interior lights are located in
the cabin headliner for crew and passenger use. Power
to these lamps is available with aircraft Master Switch in
either the ON AND OFF position.
-- CAUTION --
The cabin light rocker switches are connected
directly to the battery.
NOTE:
These cabin lights are connected directly to bat-
tery and will illuminate, when pushed ON, with
aircraft Master Switch OFF and cabin interior
Master Light Switch -- ON.
All passenger overhead lights are controlled by the
Master Light switch located on the pilot’s arm rest. With
Master Light switch ON, individual overhead cabin
lights are controlled by rocker switches located on each
passenger’s arm rest (excluding front seat passenger).
The rockers switches control light ON, OFF and DIM.
Front seat passenger’s light switch is located forward of
the cabin door hinge on the interior side panel.
A 24 volt baggage compartment light is located in the
baggage compartment left hand headliner and is con-
trolled by a rocker switch mounted in the baggage
compartment right hand headliner assembly. Depress-
ing the rocker switch energizes a capacitor which in
turn energizes the fixture lamp. The duration that the
switch is depressed and held in the ON position will de-
termine the length of time the lamp remains illuminated.
This light will automatically turn OFF after approximate-
ly 10 minutes.
