71--00--00 -- GENERAL
The M20TN has a Teledyne Continental Motors (TCM)
TSIO--550--G( ) series engine installed. This is a six cyl-
inder, 280 H.P., fuel injected, twin turbo--normalized
with dual intercoolers.
-- WARNING --
Propeller Strike Incidents – OR Hydraulic Lock –
Refer to TCM SB 96--11 (or subsequent data) for
required engine maintenance action.
71--00--10 -- ENGINE REMOVAL
It is recommended that engine mount be left on firewall
and engine assembly be removed at isolator attach
points. The engine will be removed with the turbines re-
maining attached to the engine.
To assist in installation, identify and tag each part as it is
removed. Plug or cap all lines, hoses, and fittings as
they are disconnected.
1. Make sure all cockpit switches are -- OFF.
2. Turn fuel selector valve -- OFF.
3. Remove engine cowling (see Section 71--10--00).
4. Disconnect battery ground cables.
5. Remove propeller (refer to section 61--00--10).
6. Drain engine oil sump.
7. Disconnect the following:
A. Cabin heat ducts (at engine).
B. Fuel vent lines, from engine mount and air-
frame.
C. Oil temperature bulb connections.
D. Oil pressure line connections.
E. Manifold pressure line from firewall.
F. Cylinder head temperature bulb connections.
8. Disconnect the following control linkage (ref.
Chapter 76 -- Engine Controls):
A. Throttle control.
B. Propeller governor control.
C. Mixture control.
9. Disconnect ignition switch wires from magnetos.

Ground magneto breaker points.
10. Disconnect fuel flow wires from fuel flow sensor.
11. Disconnect engine ground strap.
12. Disconnect alternator and starter wires.
