2 Safety Notes
The remote control and the supplied plug-in power
supply unit correspond to the EMC directive for elec-
tromagnetic compatibility 89/336/EEC. The plug-in
power supply unit additionally corresponds to the
low voltage directive 73/23/EEC.
Warning: The remote control corresponds to the limit
values of class A. The operation of the unit
in residential areas may lead to interfer-
ences of the radio and TV reception. Take
appropriate measures in this case.
It is essential to observe the following items:
● The remote control and the plug-in power supply
unit are suitable for indoor use only. Protect them
against dripping water and splash water, high air
humidity, and heat (admissible ambient tempera-
ture range 0 – 35 °C).
● Do not set the remote control into operation, and
immediately disconnect the plug-in power supply
unit from the mains socket if
1. there is visible damage to the plug-in power
supply unit or to the remote control,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or
similar accident,
3. there are malfunctions.
The units must in any case be repaired by skilled
personnel.
● For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, by no
means chemicals or water.
● If the remote control or the plug-in power supply
unit is used for purposes other than originally in-
tended, if it is not connected or operated correctly,
or not repaired in an expert way, there is no liabil-
ity for possible damage.

If the remote control and the plug-in power supply
unit are to be put out of operation definitively, take
them to a local recycling plant for a disposal which
is not harmful to the environment.
3 Applications
The unit TVMP-1600RM serves for remote control-
ling the 16-channel duplex multiplexers TVMP-1600
(B/W multiplexer) and TVMP-1600COL (colour multi-
plexer) of MONACOR. All multiplexer settings can be
made via this remote control.
4 Settings at the Multiplexer
4.1 Unit number
The multiplexer is addressed by the remote control
via its unit number. The numbers “1” to “99” can be
assigned to the B/W multiplexer TVMP-1600, the
numbers “1” to “255” to the colour multiplexer
TVMP-1600COL (see chapter 8.10 in the instruc-
tions of the multiplexer). For each multiplexer the
unit number “1” is preset. For convenient control of
the multiplexer it is recommended for the control of
one unit not to change the preset unit number “1”.
4.2 Settings for the data transmission
– only for model TVMP-1600COL –
At the colour multiplexer TVMP-1600COL, the RS-
485 interface and the desired transmission rate
(1200 bps, 2400 bps, 4800 bps, or 9600 bps) have to
be selected.
To make the settings, call the setting menu of the
multiplexer and select the 9th menu item “Unit Op-
tion” (see chapter 8.10 in the instructions of the mul-
tiplexer). Call the submenu “Communication” on this
menu page and set the interface “RS485” (line
“type”) and the desired transmission rate (line “Baud
Rate”). “ON” must be set in line “Port” and protocol
“A” in line “Protocol”.
5 Making the Control Connection
The control of the multiplexer is made per RS-485
data transmission. The units are connected with
each other via their RS-485 interfaces.
● If a longer cable than the supplied 6 m cable is re-
quired, do not use any telephone cables. The
connected units may be damaged in this case.
The cable used should have the following specifi-
cations:
drilled double core, shielded; AWG 24; capacity
< 52.5 pF/m; resistance < 0.8
Ω
/m.
● Prior to connecting the control cable to the multi-
plexer separate the remote control(s) and the mul-
tiplexer from the power supply.
5.1 Connecting the remote control
to the multiplexer
In these instructions only the control of one multi-
plexer is described. For more detailed information
about connection and control of several multi-
plexers, please contact the MONACOR service.
5.1.1 Colour multiplexer TVMP-1600COL
(see fig. 4)
1) Via the supplied 6 m cable connect the modular
jack “RS485 OUT” (11b) of the remote control to
the modular jack “RS485 IN” of the multiplexer.
To additonally connect the terminating resis-
tor, connect the supplied 8-pole RJ45 modular
plug at which pins 3 and 4 are bridged to the
modular jack “RS485 OUT” of the multiplexer.
2) Set the “TERMINATION SWITCH” (10) to posi-
tion “ON”.
5.1.2 B/W multiplexer TVMP-1600
(see fig. 3)
1) Separate one of the two RJ45 modular plugs
from the supplied 6 m cable and solder the cable
end to a 25-pole Sub-D plug:
green core (RXA)
to pin 16
red core (RXB) to pin 18
For additionally connecting the terminating resis-
tor, short-circuit pins 17 and 18.
Attention!
The plug-in power supply unit is supplied with haz-
ardous mains voltage (230 V~). Leave servicing to
skilled personnel only. Inexpert handling may
cause an electric shock hazard. Furthermore, any
guarantee claim will expire if the power supply unit
or the remote control has been opened.

2 Hinweise für den sicheren Gebrauch
Die Fernbedienung und das beiliegende Stecker-
netzgerät entsprechen der EMV-Richtlinie für elek-
tromagnetische Verträglichkeit 89/336/EWG. Das
Steckernetzgerät entspricht zusätzlich der Nieder-
spannungsrichtlinie 73/23/EWG.
Warnung: Die Fernbedienung entspricht den Grenz-
werten der Klasse A. Der Betrieb des Ge-
rätes in Wohngebieten kann zu Störun-
gen des Rundfunk- und Fernsehemp-
fangs führen. Ergreifen Sie in diesem Fall
geeignete Maßnahmen.
Beachten Sie auch unbedingt folgende Punkte:

Die Fernbedienung und das Steckernetzgerät
sind nur zur Verwendung im Innenbereich ge-
eignet. Schützen Sie die Geräte vor Tropf- und
Spritzwasser, hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit und Hitze
(zulässiger Einsatztemperaturbereich 0 – 35 °C).
● Nehmen Sie die Fernbedienung nicht in Betrieb
bzw. ziehen Sie das Steckernetzgerät sofort aus
der Steckdose, wenn:
1. sichtbare Schäden am Steckernetzgerät oder
an der Fernbedienung vorhanden sind,
2. nach einem Sturz oder Ähnlichem der Verdacht
auf einen Defekt besteht,
3. Funktionsstörungen auftreten.
Lassen Sie die Geräte in jedem Fall in einer Fach-
werkstatt reparieren.

Verwenden Sie für die Reinigung nur ein trocke-
nes weiches Tuch, niemals Chemikalien oder
Wasser.
●
Werden die Fernbedienung oder das Steckernetz-
gerät zweckentfremdet, nicht richtig angeschlos-
sen, falsch bedient oder nicht fachgerecht repa-
riert, kann für eventuelle Schäden keine Haftung
übernommen werden.
● Sollen die Fernbedienung und das Netzgerät end-
gültig aus dem Betrieb genommen werden, über-
geben Sie die Geräte zur umweltfreundlichen Ent-
sorgung einem örtlichen Recyclingbetrieb.
3 Anwendungsmöglichkeiten
Das Gerät TVMP-1600RM dient zur Fernbedienung
der 16-Kanal-Duplex-Multiplexer TVMP-1600 (S/W-
Multiplexer) und TVMP-1600COL (Farbmultiplexer)
von MONACOR. Sämtliche Multiplexer-Einstellun-
gen können über diese Fernbedienung ausgeführt
werden.
4 Einstellungen am Multiplexer
4.1 Gerätenummer
Der Multiplexer wird von der Fernbedienung über
seine Gerätenummer adressiert. Dem S/W-Multiple-
xer TVMP-1600 lassen sich die Nummern „1“ bis „99“
zuordnen, dem Farbmultiplexer TVMP-1600COL die
Nummern „1“ bis „255“ (siehe Kap. 8.10 in der Anlei-
tung des Multiplexers). Für jeden Multiplexer ist die
Gerätenummer „1“ voreingestellt. Zur komfortablen
Bedienung des Multiplexers ist es bei Steuerung
eines Geräts empfehlenswert, die voreingestellte
Gerätenummer „1“ nicht zu verändern.
4.2 Einstellungen zur Datenübertragung
– nur beim Modell TVMP-1600COL –
Am Farbmultiplexer TVMP-1600COL müssen die
RS-485-Schnittstelle und die gewünschte Übertra-
gungsrate (1200 bps, 2400 bps, 4800 bps oder
9600 bps) ausgewählt werden.
Um die Einstellungen vorzunehmen, am Multiple-
xer das Einstellmenü aufrufen und den 9. Menü-
punkt „Einheit Option“ anwählen (siehe Kap. 8.10 in
der Anleitung des Multiplexers). Auf dieser Menü-
seite das Untermenü „Kommunikation“ aufrufen und
die Schnittstelle „RS485“ (Zeile „Typ“) sowie die ge-
wünschte Übertragungsrate (Zeile „Baud Rate“) ein-
stellen. In der Zeile „Port“ muss „EIN“ eingestellt
sein und in der Zeile „Protocol“ das Protokoll „A“.
5 Steuerverbindung herstellen
Die Steuerung des Multiplexers erfolgt per RS-485-
Datenübertragung. Die Geräte werden über ihre RS-
485-Schnittstellen miteinander verbunden.

Wird ein längeres Kabel als das beiliegende 6-m-
Kabel benötigt, verwenden Sie keine Telefonan-
schlusskabel. Die verbundenen Geräte könnten in
diesem Fall beschädigt werden. Das verwendete
Kabel sollte folgende Spezifikationen haben:
verdrillte Doppelader, geschirmt; AWG 24; Kapa-
zität < 52,5 pF/m; Widerstand < 0,8

Vor dem Anschließen des Steuerkabels an den
Multiplexer, die Fernbedienung(en) und den Multi-
plexer von der Stromversorgung trennen.
5.1 Anschluss der Fernbedienung an den
Multiplexer
In dieser Anleitung wird nur die Steuerung eines
Multiplexers beschrieben. Sollten Sie nähere Infor-
mationen über Anschluss und Steuerung mehrerer
Multiplexer benötigen, wenden Sie sich bitte an den
MONACOR-Kundendienst.
5.1.1 Farbmultiplexer TVMP-1600COL
(siehe Abb. 4)
1) Über das beiliegende 6-m-Anschlusskabel die
Modularbuchse „RS485 OUT“ (11b) der Fernbe-
dienung mit der Modularbuchse „RS485 IN“ des
Multiplexers verbinden.
Um den Abschlusswiderstand zuzuschalten,
den beiliegenden, 8-poligen RJ45-Modularste-
cker, an dem die Pins 3 und 4 überbrückt sind, in
die Modularbuchse „RS485 OUT“ des Multiple-
xers stecken.
Achtung!
Das Steckernetzgerät wird mit lebensgefährlicher
Netzspannung (230 V~) versorgt. Nehmen Sie
deshalb niemals selbst Eingriffe in diesem Gerät
vor. Durch unsachgemäßes Vorgehen besteht die
Gefahr eines elektrischen Schlages. Außerdem
erlischt beim Öffnen des Netzgerätes oder der
Fernbedienung jeglicher Garantieanspruch.
