Trouble Shooting
If there is no sound after switching on the car HiFi
system, locate the fault more precisely by means of
the two LEDs “power” (2) and “protection” (1).
8.1 No LED lights up
1) Check the fuse (9) on the car HiFi booster and the
additional fuse on the car battery. Replace defec-
tive fuses. Only use fuses with the values as indi-
cated (HPB-502: 15 A each, HPB-1002: 25 A each).
Do not insert a fuse of a higher value under any cir-
cumstances. The booster can be damaged, and the
guarantee will be cancelled.
2) Check the 12 V power supply cable as well as the
ground cable for interruption and correct connec-
tion.
3) Check at the terminal “rem” (11) of the car HiFi
booster if +12 V is present. If not, remove the cable
at the terminal “rem” and bridge the terminals “rem”
(11) and “+12v” (10) for a short time. If the car HiFi
booster is switched on now, the error is due to the
missing control voltage. Check the 12 V output of
the car radio (or the separate switch or the ignition
lock) and check the corresponding connection
cable to the booster.
8.2 Green LED “power” lights up
1) Check the connection cable from the signal source
to the car HiFi booster. Are the plugs correctly
connected? Is the cable interrupted?
2) Check the signal source. Is the signal source
switched on? Have the correct outputs been used?
Is the signal source defective?
3) Check the speaker cables for interruption.
4) Check the connected speakers.
8.3 Red LED “protection” lights up
The booster is protected with a protection circuit
against short circuit at the speaker outputs and against
overheating. If the protection circuit responds, the red
LED “protection” (1) lights up. Check the speaker
cables for short circuit and check the impedance of the
speakers (2-channel operation 2
Ω
per channel as a
minimum, bridge operation 4
Ω
as a minimum). The
reason may also be due to an insufficient heat dissipa-
tion (ventilation). After the error has been eliminated or
after cooling off, the booster switches on again auto-
matically.
