code being inserted into both lines 14 and 16. Note that time code cannot be inserted on lines outside the
allowable range, so for example, if line 19 is selected for time code insertion in a 525 line output, and
timecode duplication is turned
ON
, the duplicate time code which would have appeared on line 21 will not be
inserted because the upper bound for time code is line 20. Thus, the timecode duplication function has no
effect when the selected line for time code is 19 or above for 525-line outputs, or 21 or above for 625-line
outputs.
•
This control is disabled when the input is SD
Insertion:
Insertion options are available through a pull-down menu, offering these choices:
AUTO: Time code is inserted if present; insertion is disabled if no time code is present.
OFF:
Time code insertion at the output is disabled.
•
This control is disabled when the input and output are both SD. In this case, VBI Blanking may be
used to enable/disable time code insertion – see
Blanking
sub-section above
Warning messages
Warning messages may appear at the bottom of the panel when conflicts arise because of the settings. The
possible messages and their meanings are as follows:
•
AFD/TC metadata line insertion conflict. Refer to manual.
[message in red letters]
Conditions: HD to SD, same line set for AFD and TC
insertion (duplicate TC included)
Consequences: Since TC and SMPTE-2016 AFD cannot
reside on the same line, TC data will not appear on the
insertion line but AFD data will be inserted.
•
AFD insertion will overwrite incoming TC or VLI on insertion
line. Refer to manual.
[in blue letters]
Conditions: SD to SD, both AFD and VBI insertion enabled
Consequences: Since TC (or VLI) and SMPTE-2016 AFD cannot reside on the same line, the
incoming TC (or VLI) is blanked (if any), and the AFD data is inserted.
•
VLI insertion will overwrite incoming VANC packets on insertion line. Refer to manual
[in blue letters].
Conditions: SD to SD, both VLI and VBI insertion enabled
Consequences: Since VLI and ancillary packets like SMPTE-2016 AFD or RP2020 Audio Metadata
cannot reside on the same line, the incoming ANC packets are blanked (if any) and the VLI is
inserted. This affects only line 11 in 525 and line 14 in 625.

tab
The Dolby metadata is used to send information
about the audio stream, e.g. program configuration,
dialnorm. Available only in HD.
Presence:
The status indicator turns Green when
the metadata is detected on specified detection line.
Detection Line:
The Insertion line is used to select
on which line in the VANC the audio metadata
packet is detected. The range is from 9 to 20.
Insertion Line:
Specifies on which HD line the
packet will be inserted at the output.
