SLC Washer Detergent Drawer Issues; Immobilizing
Brake
You may encounter an SLC washer (W 4800, W 4840, W 4802, W 4842)
where the detergent drawer has difficulty staying closed during the wash
cycle.
There is no longer any reason to replace the drawer or water path unit for this
situation. A new immobilizing brake has been developed. Simply replace the
original brake with this one and the drawer will stay closed.
The new part
number is 07348331.

W 48xx Electronic Replacement
Currently, all of the SLC washers use the same power electronic.
The W 4800 and W 4802 use the same fascia electronic (without display).
The W 4820 and W 4822 also share the same fascia electronic (with display).
Since the W 48x2 washers are updated models, you will notice that there are
some subtle differences in program selection and fascia panel graphics.
Whenever the need arises to replace an electronic, you must enter service
programming mode and be sure that the model programming matches the
actual model you are working on. This will ensure that the machine operates
as it should, i.e. as described in the owner’s manual.
Use your MDU or enter programming mode manually to accomplish this.
Refer to Table 070-1 or 070-2 for more information.

SLC Washer Stops and Displays “Pause” During a Fill
(W 484x) or Stops and Blinks the “Start” Light During a
Fill (W 480x)
Reminder: The SLC washers have a child safety sensor system that operates
by detecting movement in the drum during a fill. Should any movement be
detected the machine will stop and show “Pause” in the display.
Uneven or lopsided loading could cause this behavior to occur. There is
nothing wrong with the washer; please see Section 070-2.1.
This child safety feature cannot be disabled.
Depending on the clothing
load and drum orientation, this feature may be triggered during the initial 10-
second water intake (water over the door) because the water intake stream is
split in two; half over the door and half pointed at the rear of the drum in the
eight o’clock position. This rearward-oriented stream may initiate a weight
shift and cause the drum to creep a bit in the counterclockwise direction. This
small movement of the drum will trigger the safety feature.
