5. Service
5.1 Hardware, Optics, Sample Delivery
Aside from the few optics and sample delivery components described previously, there are no user-
serviceable components inside the S3500. Should a problem occur that cannot be cleared using the
procedures in this manual, please contact Microtrac Technical Support. Actions the user can take include
the following:
1.
Check the integrity of all air, liquid and/or vacuum tubing connections if the problem is with the
sample delivery system.
2.
Verify that a supply of fill fluid is available to wet sample delivery systems, either from a supply tank
or valve.
3.
Ensure that all optical elements including the sample cell are clean, following the guidelines in the
Maintenance section.
5.2 Electrical
There are no user-serviceable electrical components inside the S3500. Should a problem occur that cannot
be cleared using the procedures in this manual, please contact Microtrac Technical Support. Actions the
user can take include the following:
CAUTION
Turn off all power to the personal computer and all devices in the Microtrac analysis system before performing
any actions on any electrical cables or components.
External Cables
1.
Check that all communications cable(s) are properly connected between the PC, the analyzer and the
sample delivery device.
2.
Check that power cords are properly seated in all devices and at their respective outlets.
AC Power Source
1.
Test for the proper AC line voltage.
2.
Replace AC fuses.
a. Turn the power switch off (“O” position).
b. Disconnect the power cord.
c. Remove the fuse tray located in the AC power input module on the rear panel.
d. Replace the bad fuse(s), reinsert the fuse tray and reconnect the power cord.
