14.
Use safety glasses and blow compressed air (50 psig maximum) from the inside to the
outside of the strainer.
15.
Dry the strainer thoroughly before reinstalling it.
16.
Replace the cover and fill the reservoir with oil that has been filtered through a 10-micron
(or finer) filter, about 2.4 liters total.
Return Filter Service Schedule
After the first one hundred (100) hours of operation, replace the filter and clean the suction
strainer.
Thereafter, clean the return filter after every 500 hours of use in a clean environment, or after
every 250 hours of use in a dirty environment. Clean the strainer whenever the hydraulic oil is
replaced.
CAUTION: IF PROPER MAINTENANCE IS NOT PERFORMED, PREMATURE WEAR AND
MALFUNCTIONING OF THE HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS WILL RESULT.
Hydraulic Cylinder
Excessive oil leaking from the isolator drain port nearest the stainless steel enclosure indicates
that the hydraulic cylinder seals may need to be replaced. It is recommended that the hydraulic
cylinder be factory serviced by Microfluidics technicians.
Hydraulic Cylinder Disassembly
1.
Disassemble the liquid end components. Follow the steps outlined in the Removing the
Liquid End Body section and the Installing the Liquid End Body section of this chapter.
2.
Unscrew the hydraulic packing gland and remove the packing assembly.
NOTE:
Assemble by reversing the above procedure. Replace all seals and wipers in the packing
assembly. Lubricate new parts, being careful not to damage sealing areas.
3.
Reassemble the liquid end components. Follow steps as outlined in the Removing the
Liquid End Body section and the Installing the Liquid End Body section of this chapter.
Reservoir Filler Breather Cap Replacement
Replace every year.
Coned and Threaded Connections Maintenance
If a coned and threaded connection is not prepared correctly, a leak will be evident through a
weep hole (every coned and threaded connection has a weep hole). Usually, leaks can be stopped
by simply retightening the gland nut. However, if retightening the gland nut does not stop the
leak, the connection MUST be taken apart, cleaned, and reassembled. Position the collar properly
