1. After buckling the
safety belt, press
your knee firmly
into the restraint
and remove slack
from the lap por-
tion of the safety
belt until the re-
straint is as tight
as possible
(Figures AL & AS).
2. While keeping the
shoulder portion of
the seat belt tight
with one hand, use
your other hand to
pinch the lap and
shoulder belts
firmly together ap-
proximately two
inches from the
latch plate (Figures
BL and BS).
3. While continuing
to pinch the belts
together, release
the buckle (Figures
CL and CS).

If your owner’s manual indicates that the vehicle seat belt
is equipped with an emergency locking retractor
(ELR),
then you must use a locking clip as specified below.
