Engine Will Not Crank
Possible Causes
Remedy
Battery switch turned "OFF."
Turn switch "ON."
Gearshift not in neutral position.
Position control lever to neutral.
Open circuit breaker or blown fuse. Check and reset circuit breaker or
replace fuse.
Loose or dirty electrical
connections or damaged wiring.
Check all electrical connections
and wires (especially battery
cables). Clean and tighten faulty
connection.
Defective battery.
Test and replace if defective.
Defective starter.
Test and replace if defective.
Flywheel ring gear is damaged.
Confirm diagnostic and replace
flywheel.
Engine is seized.
Check to see if engine can be
rotated by hand with the spark
plugs removed. If not, then
determine cause.
Faulty ignition switch.
Test wire with a remote starter
switch at the starter motor.
