Practical advice

Fuel system

The hand pump is located either between
the chassis and the fuel tank or next to the
air cleaner housing.

Hand pump (example)

Remove the fuel tank filler cap by turn-
ing it anti-clockwise.

Turn hand pump lever anti-clockwise to
release it.

Operate hand pump until definite re-
sistance is felt.

Secure the hand pump lever again by
turning it clockwise.

Replace the cap on the fuel tank and
turn it clockwise to tighten.

Vehicles with fuel prefilter:

Before bleeding the fuel system, oper-
ate the fuel prefilter hand pump and
completely fill the filter housing.

Bleeding the fuel system

Operate hand pump for approximately
100 strokes until definite resistance is
felt.

The fuel prefilter with heated water
separator is located on the right-hand
side of the vehicle behind the cab.
