Windshield Wipers
Emergency Operation of Sliding Roof
Unlocking the Fuel Filler Flap
In order to renew or release frozen
w indshield wiper blades, the w in d ­
shield wiper arms can be pulled out of
their recess by hand. S ufficient force
must be applied to overcom e spring
resistance.
In order to ensure operation of the
w indshield w iper even w hen it is
snowing heavily, an overload p ro te c ­
tion has been installed. It becom es
effective if a certain w iping resistance
is exceeded as a result of snow
accumulation. The w indshield w iper
arm will then no longer return
com pletely to its initial position,
although the w indshield w iper m otor
continues to run a full cycle.
If the electrically operated sliding roof
drive mechanism should fail, the roof
can be operated manually.
The drive m otor, located on the left
side o f the trunk behind a cover, is
provided with a redcolored hex head.
Remove cover with a screw driver and
slip the spark plug w rench (or a
suitable hex socket w ith driver) onto
the hex head. Now move sliding roof
in desired direction by turning the
w rench.
To close the sliding ro o f turn w rench
clockwise.
If the fille r flap cannot be opened
because of a fault, w ithdraw the link of
th e vacuum elem ent (on RH side in
trunk).
