GAS INPUT RATE VERICATION REQUIREMENTS
Natural Gas Applications Gas Input Rate Verification Procedures
Verify burner Orifice Sizes. The main orifice body has the orifice hole size stamped on it. NG orifice size shall be #42 for
both the front and rear burner for 0-2000 feet elevation. For elevations exceeding 2000 feet the front burner orifice shall
be #42 and the rear burner orifice shall be #43.
Verify that the Manifold Gas Pressure is within 3.5" WC +/- 1/8".
Once setup, read the main home gas supply meter reading.

Turn OFF all other appliances and their pilot flame in the home.
Run this appliance for a period of 30 minutes on maximum flame size. At 30 minutes turn off the burners and pilot flame.
Read the main home gas supply meter reading after the 30 minutes of burn time.
Write the reading here >> Final Gas Meter Reading _______________
Calculate the following:
FINAL GAS METER READING - INITIAL GAS METER READING...Subtract Initial Gas Meter from Final Gas Meter
Reading. This will yield the number of Therms used during the 30 minute burn time.
Multiply the result in by 100,000.
Multiply the result in by 2. Write down the Result here >>_________________
The result shall be at least maximum Input Rate 40,000 Btu for altitudes below 2000 Feet. For altitudes higher than 2000
feet, the result shall be at least 39,000 Btu.
LPG Applications Gas Input Rate Verification Procedures
Verify Burner Orifice Sizes. The main orifice body has the orifice hole size stamped on it. LPG orifice size shall be #54 for
both the front and rear burner for 0-2000 feet elevation. For elevations exceeding 2000 feet the front burner orifice shall
be #54 and the rear burner orifice shall be #55.
Verify that the Manifold Gas Pressure is within 3.5" WC +/- 1/8".
Use procedure above to verify input rate.
