Backup/Restore menu

From the System menu, click Backup/Restore and select the Remote Backup/Restore tab.

Ensure this is a hard-to-guess password, as all passwords including IPSec passwords and private 

keys are downloaded into your saved configuration. Ensure your password is easy to remember. If this 

password is lost, there is no way to restore your configuration.

[Optional] To save an unencrypted configuration backup, select the Unencrypted checkbox. You must 
leave the password fields blank if you enable this option.

Security Alert: 

Ensure the configuration is transferred over an encrypted connection and stored on a secured 

system. This file is not intended to be human-readable, although some portions can be read. The format is 

similar to files created with the Text Save/Restore option.

Click Save. You are prompted to save the file. Click Save and save the file in a safe place.

Restoring a remote configuration

Use this procedure to restore a configuration you saved remotely from the appliance to your personal 
computer.

From the System menu, click Backup/Restore. The Remote Backup/Restore tab appears.

Click Browse to locate the .sgc configuration file you previously backed up.

Enter the password for the configuration file in the Password field.

[Optional] If the configuration you wish to restore was created using a firmware version older than 4.0, 
or a firmware version from a different product, select the Ignore version checkbox. 

Caution: 

Restoring configuration files from firmware versions newer than the currently installed firmware, or 

from a different product, may cause errors.

Click Submit.
