When

always use a

.
This improves the accuracy of cut and
reduces the chance of blade binding.
g)
Always use blades with c
orr
ect size and shape (diamond ve

arbour
holes.
Blades that do
not match the moun
ting ha
rdware of the saw will run eccentrically, causing loss of control.

.
The blade washers and bolt were specially
designed for your saw, for op

formance and safety of opera
tion.
2) KICKBACK CAUSES AND RELATED WARNINGS
•
Kickback is a sudden r
eaction
to a pinched, bound or misaligned saw blade, causing an uncontrolled saw
t
o lift up and out of the
workpiece toward the operator
•
When the blade is pinched or bound
tig
htly by the kerf closing down, the blade stalls and the motor
r
eaction dri
ves the unit rapidly back toward the operator
•
If the blade becomes twisted or misaligned in the cut, the teeth at the back edge of the blade can
dig into the top surface of the wood causing the blade to climb out of the kerf and jump back towards
operator
•
Kickback is the result of tool misuse and/or incorrect opera
ting
procedures or c
onditions
and
can be avoided by taking proper prec
autions as gi
ven below
a)
Maintain a
firm
grip
with both hands on the saw and

ces
.
P
osition
y
our
body to
either
side of the blade,
but not in line with the blade. Kickback could cause the
saw to jump backwards, but kickback forces can be controlled by the operator, if proper prec
autions
are
taken.
b)

If saw blade is binding, it may walk up or kickback from the workpiece
as the saw is restarted.
d)
Support
la
rg
e panels to minimise the
risk
of blade
pinching
and
k
ic
k
bac
k.
Large panels tend to sag
under their own weight. Supports must be placed under the panel on both sides, near the line of cut and
near the edge of the panel.
e)
Do not use dull
or
dama
g
ed blades
.
Unsharpened or improperly set blades produce narrow kerf
causing excessiv
e friction, blade binding and kickback.
f)
Blade depth and bevel adjus

If blade

The protruding blade may cut
objects that can cause kickback.
3) LOWER GUARD FUNCTION
a)
Check

befo

use.
Do not ope
r

er
guar

not move f
r
eely and close instantly
.
Nev
er
clamp
or
tie
the low
er
guar
d into the open pos
ition.
If saw
is accidentally dropped, lower guard may be bent. Disconnect the plug, raise the lower guard with the
retrac
tin
g handle and make sure it moves freely and does not touch the blade or any other part, in all
angles and depths of cut.
b)
Check
the ope
r
a

of the low
er
guar

spring.
If the
guar

spring

they must be se
r
viced befo
r
e use
.
Lower guard may operate sluggishly due to damaged parts, gummy
deposits, or a build-up of debris.
c)
Low
er
guar
d should be
r
et
r
acted manually only f
or
special cuts such as plun
g
e cuts and compound
cuts.
Raise low
er
guar

r
et

handle and as soon as blade ente

s the mat
erial,
the low
er
guar
d
must be
released.
For all other sawing, the lower guard should operate automa
ti
cally.
d)
Always obse
r
ve that the low
er guar
d is cov
ering the blade b
efo
re placing s
aw do
wn on bench or floor.
An unprotected, coas
ting
blade will cause the saw to walk backwards, cu
tting
whatever is in its path. Be
awar

takes for the blade to stop a
