BILGE PUMPS
The boat is equipped with three electric (24 volt DC)
bilge pumps located in the forward, mid and aft bilges.
These are fully automatic and will operate when water is
present in the bilge. Additionally there are three manual
bilge pumps of whose operation is achieved by using a
hand pump.
Should one of the bilge pumps fail and the water in the
bilge rise to a level where it may become a concern,
an audible alarm will sound in the Bilge Alarm panel at
the helm station (see Figure 6.21) and DC panel (see
Figure 6.20). A manual pump in the line can be used
as a backup.
The bilge pumps are not intended to drain the craft in
the event of hull damage.
The pumps should be inspected and activated manually by operating the float switch on a regular basis for debris obstruction. No other servicing is necessary.
Figures 6.22 and 6.23 show the electric and manual bilge pumps, respectively.
