7. Troubleshooting
General Guide
The following information is provided as a guide for troubleshooting. If you have any questions
regarding the installation, operation, or preventive maintenance procedures for this equipment,
contact The M&R Companies Service Department. Anyone using this troubleshooting guide should
have a working knowledge of electrical power and the control systems and on this equipment.
Schematic
Electrical schematics are located in the back of this manual.
IMPORTANT:
The dryer must receive adequate power and gas to perform properly. Make sure the
electrical power lines to the equipment are on and the manual shutoff valve on the gas supply line is
open.
Problem
Probable Causes
Solution
The high/low gas pressure
switch has activated
This indicates that the gas supply
has either dropped below or
increased above the allowable
input gas pressure.
Check the gas pressure gauge on the gas supply line.
The incoming gas pressure should read approximately
5"-8” w.c. (.93-1.49 mm Hg). If the pressure is either
above or below this reading, contact your local gas
supplier for assistance.
The main blower has failed, or
the main blower drive belt or
pulley has become loose.
This may be a sign of restricted
airflow in the dryer heat chamber.
Check the main blower motor and filter assembly.
If the blower motor is running, remove any lint or dirt that
has accumulated on the
slide-out filter screen or in the
dryer heat chamber.
If the main blower motor is not running, contact The
M&R Companies Service Department.
The high temperature limit
switch has activated.
Allow the dryer to cool down for at least 30 minutes. If
the dryer shuts down on re-ignition, contact The M&R
Companies Service Department.
Abnormal Burner
Shutdown
The burner shuts down
during normal
operation, turning on
the FAILURE indicator
and issuing the audible
alarm
The exhaust blower has failed.
Disconnect electrical power from the equipment and lock
power in the OFF position. Open the electrical panel
and check to see if the exhaust blower circuit breaker(s)
have failed. If circuit breakers have tripped, reset, or, if
needed, replace the circuit breaker or breakers.
The dryer goes
through the PURGE
cycle, but will not
ignite.
1. Spark plug failure
2. Flame rod failure
3. Signal
interruption
4. Low
gas
pressure
Look through the burner flame window to see if the spark
plug is producing sparks to ignite the burner.
If there are no sparks, contact The M&R Companies
Service Department.
If there are sparks, check the incoming gas pressure. If
the gas pressure meets dryer requirements, contact The
M&R Companies Service Department.
Do not attempt to adjust or replace the spark plug or
flame rod.
The temperature is set too low.
Adjust the temperature according to ink manufacturer
recommendations.
Printed substrates are
not completely dried
or cured.
The Conveyor Belt speed is set
too high.
Adjust the Conveyor Belt speed to increase the time
substrates spend in the heat chamber.
