Appendix E: Operating the laser without the
External reference cavity
If the laser is shipped without a reference cavity then the control page appears
as below;
In this case the reference cavity lock controls are removed and the reference
cavity scan and offset commands are redirected to the laser resonator piezo.
This enables the resonator to be scanned directly without being slaved to a
reference cavity. The system remains calibrated in the usual way, but the
resulting scans will be in the opposite polarity.
There is also an option to bypass the external reference cavity,
even if one is included with the laser. This is achieved on the UI by
selecting CONFIGURE > SUPERVISOR OPTIONS and selecting
Disable
, from the drop-down menu.
