SolsTiS User Manual v10.0
Figure 15
Electrical connections to the SolsTiS reference cavity
(model SolsTiS
–SRX only). NOTE: cable clamp not shown
in picture to allow cable location to be seen clearly.
10-way connectors
– depending on SolsTiS model purchased, the supplied
SolsTiS umbilical features, up to four 10-way circular female connectors for
connecting the SolsTiS controller to the SolsTiS laser head. These connectors
are: LASER HEAD TOP (red) and LASER HEAD BOTTOM (blue)
– see
Figure 14; and, if applicable, REFERENCE CAVITY (yellow) - see Figure 15.
For ease of use these colours are marked on the connectors and their
corresponding bulkheads.
Two MCX coaxial connectors
(model SolsTiS-SRX only)
– on the
reference cavity, as shown in Figure 15. These are: OUTPUT PHOTODIODE
(O) [left] and REFERENCE CAVITY PHOTODIODE (R) [right].
Earth connector
– on the side of the SolsTiS laser head, as shown in Figure
15.

Pump Optics Module
As shown in Figure 13, the Pump Optics Module (POM) is a small,
sealed assembly. The POM contains a mirror pair that may be used
to route and align the pump beam safely between the pump beam
output aperture and the SolsTiS input port.
Controls
In order to optimise pump beam alignment, the second mirror in the
POM may be adjusted manually by the user, if needed, by small
movements of the screws.
-
Only VERY SMALL movements are needed.
-
Do NOT touch the z-axis screw. Only the x & y axes should be
used to optimise the beam alignment.
-
This should be done initially at
low power
; <0.1W
Please refer to Chapter 5 for more information.
Note!
Only small mirror adjustments should be
made, using the supplied 2mm Allen key.
Methodically optimize the position of only one mirror
adjustment at a time in order to avoid gross
misalignment of the pump beam and possible loss
of SolsTiS output, which may be hard to recover.
Note!
An Automated Pump beam Alignment Module
(APAM) is available as an optional alternative to the
POM. The APAM adds automated, servo-loop pump
beam alignment, and automatically compensates
any effects (within the capture range of the servo
loop) that might otherwise degrade pumping
efficiency, such as pump beam pointing or ambient
temperature changes. Please inquire.
