As with the filament toolhead, before printing with the liquid toolhead, you must first prime the extrusion of the
material.
1.
Place the syringe in its holder on the toolhead, then screw it gently into the connector.
2.
Clip the pressured air adaptor onto the syringe.
3.
Turn on the compressor and set the pressure of line 1 on the liquid material bay, 4 bar when printing silicone
(2-figure 6.1.1)
4.
When the pressure has been set and the toolhead pressurized, the piston will be forced slightly downwards
under pressure.
5.
You should be able to see the material rising in the tube and stabilize, the system is now fully loaded, ready
to be primed.
6.
You can now pre-prime the system by extruding 50 mm of material via the control interface (
“
control
”
tab, see
section 3.3.5). Set the extrusion speed to maximum (5 mm/s) to save time. The material will be dispensed
from the tip of the toolhead where you will mount the nozzle.
7.
Mount the nozzle into position on the tip of the toolhead and continue extruding until the material flows from
the nozzle.
If you want to fill your own serynges, please follow these steps: It is always preferable to use a new syringe. The
piston should be fitted in place at the bottom of the syringe. Fill the syringe via the bottom to prevent the
appearance of air bubbles which could reduce the quality of the print. Use a 90° luer-lock adaptor preferably.
Parts 1, 2, 3 and 6 are disposable parts and should only be used once.
To ensure the quality of the print, it is important that the toolhead remains clean and unblocked at all times during
printing. If you think the nozzle may be dirty or obstructed, pause the print job and clean the nozzle.
