Stinger® FS/Stinger FS+ Getting Started Guide
Installing and Removing Modules
Replacing the fan tray
!
Caution
If the filter does not become lose enough for removal, inspect the air
intake area in the front of the chassis to verify that all four nuts have been
removed from the power filter retaining studs.
Installing a power filter
To install a power filter in a Stinger FS or Stinger FS+ chassis manufactured prior to
late 2005, use the following procedure:
1
Align the tabs on the bottom of both sides of the power filter with the guide track
slots in the chassis and insert the power filter. (See Figure 6-10.)
!
Caution
Do not force the power filter into the chassis. If the power filter does
not slide completely into the chassis, rock it slightly to align the retaining studs
with their holes within the chassis.

2
In the air intake area, in the font of the chassis, replace the four retaining nuts
(and any washers that were present during removal) on the four power filter
retaining studs. (See Figure 6-9.)
3
Replace the air filter and the air intake grate, and re-install the 10 screws that
hold the air intake grate in the front of the chassis. (See “Replacing the air filter”
on page 6-14.)
4
In the rear of the chassis, tighten the three latching screws along the bottom of
the power filter.
5
Verify that no voltage is present on the supply voltage wire and reinstall them
onto the power terminals of the power filter.
!
Caution
Verify the polarity of the supply voltage wires prior to connecting
them. Be sure to connect the -48/-60Vdc and return supply voltage wires to the
correct power filter terminals. (See Figure 6-7.)
6
Connect the number 10 ring lugs of the supply voltage wires to the number 10
terminals on the power filter and secure them with 3/8 inch nuts for these
terminals. For detailed instructions for connecting power See “Connecting power
to a Stinger unit” on page 3-3.
