Adding the Remote Backup Server’s Interfaces File
Contents
To enable communication between the remote backup server and the Sybase 12.5.0.1
Server, from the Sybase Server workstation use the
dsedit
utility to add the contents of
the remote backup server interfaces file to the Sybase Server interfaces file. Then,
perform the following steps:
1.
Open an Xterm window and enter:
su - sybase
2.
Enter:
cd /opt/sybase/OCS-12_5/bin
3.
Run the
dsedit
utility by entering:
./dsedit
The dsedit-Select a Directory Service dialog box appears.
4.
Select the Sybase interfaces file and choose OK. The dsedit-Directory Service
Section dialog box appears.
5.
Choose Add New Server Entry. The dsedit -Server Entry Editor dialog box
appears.
6.
In the dsedit-Server Entry dialog box, do the following:
a.
In the “Enter Name of Remote Syb Backup Server” field, enter
REMOTE_SYB_BACKUP
.
b.
Choose Add New Network Transport. The dsedit-Network Transport Editor
dialog box appears.
7.
Do the following:
a.
In the “Transport Type” field, select tlitcp.
b.
In the “Hostname” field, enter
<hostname of system that runs the
remote backup server>.
c.
In the “Enter Port Number” field, enter
1027
.
d.
Choose OK.
The Server Entry Editor dialog box appears.
8.
Choose OK. The Directory Service Session dialog box appears.
9.
Choose Close Session. The Select a Directory Service dialog box appears.
10.
Choose Exit.
