1. USING THE CALCULATOR
Turning the calculator on and off
[ON]
[AC]
[SHIFT] [OFF]
Turns the calculator on.
Clears screen.
Note:
when your calculator is turned on after having been
off, it will automatically return to its initial default settings,
notably: the decimal mode (DEC), floating point notation
and unit angles in degrees (
D
).
Turns the calculator off.
The calculator will automatically turn off if it remains idle
for over 10 minutes
Display and Indicators
Your calculator is comprised of a two-line display screen which is as follows:
Important :
the scientific calculator SC460 uses a comma to denote thou-
sands, and a dot as a decimal point.
The lower line displays values and results with 10 significant numbers, plus
2, on the top right hand corner, in scientific notation (see paragraph on
“Scientific Notation”).
The line found directly above this is an alphanumeric line which displays the
calculation entered and which you can edit, even after having obtained a
result (see paragraph “Editing a calculation”)
On the top line, as well as on the sides, you will find various symbols.
They are not all simultaneously displayed during a calculation, yet those who
do appear provide indications to facilitate the readability of the operations
underway:
Minus sign to indicate that the number displayed is
negative
Indicates that the current calculation is too long to be dis

played in its entirety and that there are digits to the left
or right of the display. Press [ ] or [ ] to see the other
sections of the calculation.
Indicates that a number of the calculation lines have
been stored in memory. If you wish to check or edit
these calculation lines, press [ ], [ ].
Memory is activated.
