Power supply
Your server comes with one or two power supplies. When two power supplies are both installed, they
provide redundant and hot-swap features. Depending on the server model, the power supplies for your
server can be any of the following types:
• 450-watt, 90–264 V ac, universal input and compliant with 80 PLUS Gold
• 550-watt, 90–264 V ac, universal input and compliant with 80 PLUS Platinum
• 750-watt, 90–264 V ac, universal input and compliant with 80 PLUS Platinum
• 750-watt, 180–264 V ac, universal input and compliant with 80 PLUS Titanium
Note:
If you are using uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), ensure that you use only pure-sine UPSes
with your ThinkServer server.
System fans
Your server supports up to six system fans. This design helps you avoid significant cooling problems
when a system fan fails.
Internal drives
Internal drives are devices that your server uses to read and store data. The internal drives supported
by your server vary by model.
• Internal storage drive
Your server supports one of the following storage drive configurations:
Drive bay size
Drive bay quantity
Drive type
3.5-inch
4
Hot-swap, SATA or SAS
Hard disk drive or 2.5-inch solid-state drive

Note:
You can install a 2.5-inch drive into a 3.5-inch-drive bay. For more information, see “Installing a
2.5-inch drive into a 3.5-inch hard-disk-drive bay” on page 107.
Notes:
– SATA is the acronym for Serial Advanced Technology Attachment.
– SAS stands for Serial Attached SCSI (SCSI is the acronym for Small Computer System Interface).
– You can install SATA hard disk drives, SAS hard disk drives, and solid-state drives into the same server.
• Optical drive
– One slim SATA optical drive in some models
To locate the internal drives or drive bays, see “Server components” on page 23.
