Chapter 5. Hardware replacement procedures
This section provides installation and removal procedures for all serviceable system components. Each
component replacement procedure references any tasks that need to be performed to gain access to the
component being replaced.
ThinkAgile MX Certified Node 2U appliances are based on the ThinkSystem SR650 server. For hardware
replacement procedures not listed in this section, you can find replacement instructions here:

Note:
If you replace a part, such as an adapter, that contains firmware, you may also need to update the
firmware for that part.

Attention:
• Disconnect all power cords for this task.
• DIMMs are sensitive to static discharge and require special handling. In addition to the standard
guidelines for “Handling static-sensitive devices” on page 29:
– Always wear an electrostatic-discharge strap when removing or installing DIMMs. Electrostatic-
discharge gloves can also be used.
– Never hold two or more DIMMs together so that they touch. Do not stack DIMMs directly on top of
each other during storage.
– Never touch the gold DIMM connector contacts or allow these contacts to touch the outside of the
DIMM connector housing.
– Handle DIMMs with care: never bend, twist, or drop a DIMM.
Before removing a DIMM:
1. Remove the top cover. See “Remove the top cover” on page 86.
2. Remove the air baffle. See “” on page .
To remove a DIMM, complete the following steps:
