8.7 Cleaning
The DX3 dimmer cabinet is fan-cooled. Air is pulled through the electrostatic filters, travels across the
dimmers, and is exhausted out the top. The filters should be removed at least every 6 months, shorter if
in dusty conditions, and washed or vacuumed clean.
Remove the dimmers by turning off the circuit breakers and firmly pulling on the handle to slide it out.
The dimmers can then be vacuumed out to remove any accumulated dust not picked up by the filters.
Blowing dust off the dimmers while they are in the dimmer room will be counter productive, as any
dust will just be recirculated back into the rack. To re-install the dimmers, slide them into place and
firmly push them in the last inch or so to seat them completely. Then energize them by turning on the
circuit breakers.
8.8 Electrical Connections
All electrical connections should be periodically checked for tightness as you go through the normal
Preventative Maintenance process. We recommend a yearly check for both the line voltage and low
voltage connections.
8.9 Ventilation
The dimmer rack is designed to operate in a 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) ambient.
Exceeding that temperature will void the warranty and potentially cause undue component failures. It
is vital that you do the following:
•
Keep the filters and dimmers clean.
•
Do not obstruct the air flow in front of the cabinet.
•
Do not place anything on top of the cabinet to obstruct the fan exhaust.
•
Keep a 24” free opening at the top of the rack for proper exhaust.
Each dimmer is protected by a thermal cutoff that will open up, cutting off the dimmer, whenever its
internal temperature gets too hot. Upon cooling down, the thermal cutoff will close and the dimmer
will be re-energized.
8.10 Off-Line Configuration Storage
A standard USB Flash Drive can be used to store your configuration off-line, as well as restoring a
configuration, if necessary. This is accomplished via the “Flash Drive” port on the front of the SCM
assembly. Follow the instructions in Section 7 of this manual to either store or restore your
configuration. The Micro SD Card slot is used for factory programming only.
