8.3.2
Core Module Removal
The main processor is contained on an SO-DIMM card (core module) that is installed in
the connector at U14. If this core module ever needs to be removed or replaced, certain
steps must be taken before removing and re-installing the module when ride-thru is
enabled or the module can be damaged.
Turn off main power and wait 30 seconds.
Remove jumper JP2. This disconnects power to the module.
Remove the module.
With JP2 removed the module can be re-installed.
Once the module is re-installed, install the shunt back to JP2.
Turn on main power.
8.4 SCM Dipswitch
The DX3 SCM provides a method to recover in the event of a configuration file corruption utilizing the
bank of 4 dip switches found on the main control board. The table below outlines their function.
Switch
Setting
Function
1
Up
Default setting - read configuration from the file /mnt/fram/ridethru.udr
on backplane when DX3 starts.
Down
Clear the configuration. Directly translates to “do not read the file
/mnt/fram/ridethru.udr from backplane on startup”. This will not
immediately erase /mnt/fram/ridethru.udr however as soon as power loss is
detected or DX3-app ended, this file will be overwritten.
2
Up
Default setting.
Down
Read the configuration from the backup file named
/mnt/fram/safekeep.udr on backplane when DX3 starts.
3
No function assigned, up or down setting has no effect.
4
No function assigned, up or down setting has no effect.
If dip switches 1 and 2 are down, the function performed by switch 1 has priority over 2. Simply
stated, when both switches are down the configuration will be cleared, not read from backup file
/mnt/fram/safekeep.udr on backplane.
8.5 SCM Reset
DxDirector DX3 has a soft reset function. If dip switches 1 or 2 are in the down position, the resulting
interpretation of the switches will be applied when the soft reset is applied. A soft reset to DX3 is
completely internalized where everything in the software is dismantled and shutdown then restarted
within the software. It is not the same as pressing the reset button. Pressing the reset reboots the Linux
OS and restarts DX3 which of course also interprets dip switch settings.
