Hardware and Software Setup
7.1.
Installing the Software
Terminal Emulator
To communicate with the LeddarSteer EVB, you will need to install a serial port terminal such as TeraTerm.
Other software with similar functionalities is available and can also be used if you are more familiar with it.
To install TeraTerm, download and instal
l the package from the vendor’s website (
). You
can also refer to the specific TeraTerm User Manual for more information about this particular software.
7.2.
Connecting the DBSD to the Driver Board
Two connectors are required to interface the LeddarSteer EVB: connector P3 for the liquid crystal cells and
temperature monitoring, and connector P2 for the heating elements.
7.2.1.
Liquid Crystal and Temperature Acquisition
For connector P3, insert the 20-pin mating connector from the wiring harness into the connector until you
hear a click. The connector is keyed and will only insert one way. This is a latching connector: to release it,
depress the latch on the side of the connector.
Do not apply force to the connector as this could cause damage.
