8 Operating a device with pressure overlay
8.1
Warnings, safety instructions and further information
The warnings and safety instructions listed below apply to devices with pres-
sure overlay.
WARNING!
Overflow of heat transfer liquid
Slipping or falling over
Do not overfill the device. Pay attention to the level indi-
cator of the device in this respect.
WARNING!
Gage pressure
Explosion, ejection of parts
The gage pressure which escapes from the device through
the overflow pipe may only be discharged in a safe area.
The overflow pipe may be not closed, also not partially, or
tapered.
n
The thermostat with pressure overlay may only be used for the tem-
perature control and circulation of a non-flammable heat transfer liquid
through a closed circuit.
The following are considered examples of unintended use:
n
Medical applications
n
Use in hazardous areas
n
Use for controlling the temperature of foodstuffs
n
Operation with a glass reactor without gage pressure protection
n
Connection to a non-closed hydraulic circuit
n
Outdoor installation
The following are considered cases of foreseeable misuse:
n
Operating the device without heat transfer liquid
n
Operating the device with an unsuitable heat transfer liquid
n
Connecting hoses incorrectly
n
There is an overflow pipe on the rear of the device. Extend the overflow
pipe with a pipe or a hose.
n
The extension should end in a stable and heat-resistant vessel.
n
The connected extension should be as short as possible and must not
reduce the diameter of the overflow pipe.
Intended use
Unintended use
Reasonably foreseeable improper use
