Chapter 2: Prerequisites
Electrical Requirements
The CentriVap Concentrator requires a dedicated
grounded electrical outlet. This outlet requires a 15
Amp circuit breaker or fuse for models rated at 115V
(60 Hz). An 8 Amp circuit breaker or fuse is required
for models rated at 230V (50/60 Hz). 115V models are
equipped with a 15 Amp NEMA 5-15P plug. 230V
models are not equipped with a plug. It will be
necessary to install a plug to match the available
receptacle.
The CentriVap Cold Trap requires a dedicated electrical
outlet. Models 74600-00 and 78110-00 require a 15
Amp circuit breaker or fuse rated at 115V (60 Hz).
Models 74600-01 and 78110-01 require an 8 Amp
circuit breaker or fuse rated at 230V (50/60 Hz). 115V
models are equipped with a 15 Amp NEMA 5-15P
plug. 230V models are not equipped with a plug. It
will be necessary to install a plug to match the available
receptacle.
It is recommended that an emergency switch for
disconnecting the mains in the case of a malfunction be
located remote from the CentriVap, preferably outside
the room in which the CentriVap is housed, or adjacent
to the exit from that room.
Location and Exhaust
Requirements
The CentriVap System should be located within a fume
hood if hazardous or flammable solvents are used. In
all cases, regardless of the solvent used, it is strongly
recommended that the vacuum pump is vented in a
fume hood. An accessory secondary trap is available to
minimize the exhausting of solvents into the
atmosphere. This does not, however, negate the need to
exhaust the vacuum pump into a fume hood.
