Server Configuration
Printer Server and Status Monitor software must be installed in the Server. After making the necessary
printer cable connections (refer to “(2) Configuration”, page 3) and configuring the network printer settings
(refer to “(3) Network settings”, page 11), carry out the following procedure to install the Printer Server and
Status Monitor software.
(1) Printer Server
The Printer Server stores PDL data sent from a Client computer in the Server and processes it using RIP
(Routing Information Protocol) processing. For this reason, data can be sent more rapidly from the Client
computer.

• CPU: Minimum 166 MHz Pentium
• RAM: Minimum 32 MB
• Free hard disk space: Minimum 2 GB

• CD-ROM drive: 1 drive
• Printer port: 10Base-T or 100Base-TX

Installing the Printer Server software
1. Start up Windows NT 4.0.
* Quit all other applications that may be open.
2. Insert the CD-ROM included with this product into a CD-ROM drive.
3. Click on My Computer and then double-click on the CD-ROM drive in which the CD-ROM was
inserted.
4. Double-click on the Setup.exe file in the open window.
5. Click on Install Server Software. The installer will run and the Welcome window will open. Click on
Next to open the Install Path dialogue box.
6. Without changing the initial directory “c:\wincui”, click on Next. The language preference dialogue
box will open.
7. Click on the language to be used throughout the rest of set-up process in order to place a check
mark next to it and, thereby, select it. Then click on Next to open the Select Program Folder
dialogue box.
8. Make any necessary changes to the program name and then click on Next. The Start Copying
Fields dialogue box will open.
