Causes and Remedies for
Common Operational Issues
There are a number of common issues that can affect the
performance of the TracNet system. The following sections
address these issues and potential solutions
.
Improper Wiring
If the system has been improperly wired, the TracNet system will
not operate correctly. Refer to the
TracNet 3.0 Installation Manual
for complete system wiring information.
Power Not Applied to the Server
If the power cable is disconnected from the server, or if the power
switch on the server’s rear panel is turned off, the server will not
power up when the blue power button is pressed.
Power Not Applied to the TracVision Antenna
If your TracVision antenna is powered off, you will not be able to
use the TracNet broadband service while moving. You will also
be unable to switch between satellites. Always turn on your
TracVision antenna when using the broadband service.
TracNet Service Not Activated
To use the TracNet system, the service must be activated. Your
system should have been preactivated at the factory. If you
suspect that your TracNet system was not fully activated, please
call KVH Technical Support at +45 45 160 180.
Satellite Signal Blocked
Satellite signals can be blocked or degraded by buildings, trees,
other vessels, or equipment on the vessel itself. Refer to
Section 2.1, “Receiving Satellite Downloads” on page 11
for details.
Simply moving the vessel or obstruction should clear the signal.
