Position brake caliper, and mount and tighten screws


Guideline
Screw, front brake
caliper M8 25 Nm
(18.4 lbf ft) Loctite ® 243™
–
Mount cable binder.
–
Position the brake line, wiring harness, and clamp. Mount and tighten
screws


Finishing work
–
Install the front wheel. ( p. 86)
–
Refit the headlight mask with the headlight. ( p. 95)
–
Check the headlight setting. ( p. 96)
12.7 Removing the fork protector

Remove screws

and take off the clamp.
–
Remove screws

on the left fork leg. Take off the fork protector to the front.
–
Remove screws

on right fork leg. Take off the fork protector to the front.
12.8 Installing the fork protector

Position the fork protector on the left fork leg. Mount and tighten screws


Guideline
Remaining screws, chassis M6 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft)
–
Position the brake line, wiring harness, and clamp. Mount and tighten screws  .
–
Position the fork protector on the right fork leg. Mount and tighten screws


12.9 Removing the lower triple clamp (EXC US)
Preparatory work
–
Remove the headlight mask with the headlight. ( p. 94)
–
Raise the motorcycle with the lift stand. ( p. 51)
–
Remove the front wheel. ( p. 86)
–
Remove the fork legs. ( p. 52)
–
Remove the front fender. ( p. 60)
–
Remove the handlebar cushion.

Main work
–
Open the cable holder in front of the right radiator and detach the wiring harness.
–
Remove screws

and hang the voltage regulator to one side.
–
Release screw

and remove screw

. Take off the upper triple clamp with the
handlebar and set it aside.

Protect the components against damage by covering them.
Do not bend the cables and lines.
