2.16.2 Calculation of the transducer position
A Microsoft
®
Excel - installation tool is available to pre- calculate the position of the
transducers on the pipe-line.
To use the tool it is necessary to have the following input at hand:
•
the total number of paths
•
the outside diameter of the pipe = D [mm]
•
the thickness of the pipe wall [mm]
The output from the excel calculation is the following information for each path:
•
the circumference of the pipe, C (= D x
S
)
•
the distance between the top of the pipe and the transducers (in vertical direction or top
down)
For the upper transducers this distance is called A, for the lower path it is 2 x A. The middle
path always is

•
the distance between two transducers of one path (horizontal distance P), for each path.
•
path length (distance between the windows of 2 transducers of one path, this must be entered
in the converter.
•
K-factor; provides a correction factor for optimal accuracy. This depends on the number of
paths and the diameter.
