USE AND PRECAUTIONS:
The KRATOS SAFETY temporary rope lifeline is a temporary and transportable anchorage device in compliance with EU Regulation 2016/425. This
lifeline has been designed to ensure the safety of users when working on 20 or 40-foot containers equipped with ISO corner casings, in addition to a
MAX. 2 m retractable fall arrester. It can also be used wherever there is a risk of falling. User safety relies on the effectiveness of the equipment and
full understanding of the safety instructions contained in this user guide. It may be used by 2 persons at the same time. Only 1 version exists: FA 60 007
03 - lifeline 14 m. There are 2 m of red rope at each end of the lifeline, intended to be used to prevent access to hazardous areas (ends of the container).
Connecting your fall protection system to these 2 segments is prohibited. The lifeline must not be used for lengths under 5 m.
Installation:
Case 1:
It is recommended to use this lifeline in combination with 2 anchorage posts for ISO containers (ref. FA 60 032 00).
The lifeline must be installed along the length of the container. It is forbidden to install it over the width of the
container, as this is not compatible with the minimum installation length of this lifeline (min. length = 5 m).
Case 2:
There are anchorage points available (EN 795:2012 Type A) with a resistance >18kN. The lifeline
will be connected directly to them using the connectors supplied with the lifeline (FA 50 301 23 – R>25kN).
This is the preferable installation type, each time it is possible.
Case 3:
There is no anchorage point on the structure. The lifeline will be connected using the connectors
supplied with the lifeline (FA 50 301 23 – R>25kN) on anchorage straps (compliant with EN795:2012 Type B – R>18kN) installed directly on the structure.
In this type of installation, the anchorage straps should not be installed on sharp edges and should be adequately protected. If installation using anchorage
straps is not possible/desirable, the lifeline can be installed on another type of anchorage point, as long as users check its compliance (EN 795:2012), its
resistance (R>18kN) and the direction of application of forces.
In all cases, wrapping the two ends of the red rope around the anchorage structure is prohibited.
The lifeline should be positioned horizontally, with a maximum angle of 15° from the horizon line. It is prohibited to use the device with structures with
small diameters and corrosion as this can affect the performance of the device.
Minimum breaking strength of the anchorage points or anchorage structure: 18 kN.
Before installation, it is essential to take into consideration the deflection (F) of the lifeline in the event of a fall; the table below is provided as an
example:
When choosing the place of installation, give preference to situations where the lifeline is situated above the shoulders of the users, and make sure the
equipment is not likely to be damaged by sharp edges, rubbing, heat sources, etc.
It is recommended to connect only one single lifeline per anchorage point (case 1 or case 2). Never connect the end of the lifeline to itself (rope) to form
the anchorage.
Before the first use, we recommend you take the time needed to fully unwind the rope.
Once the installation site has been determined, check the threading of the rope through the tensioner as indicated on the tensioner’s plate.
Connect the end opposite the tensioner to the anchorage point and then do the same at the other end. Make sure the two connectors are properly closed
