A. Application and Operation
The
KEMPER electrostatic filter fixed is used mainly for source extraction of welding smoke.
The unit can have either one or two flexible exhaust arms or cranes. Options include Automatic
Start/Stop, On/Off switch (for the exhaust hood), and Halogen Light Kit (work light for the exhaust
hood).
The contaminated air is drawn in by the exhaust hood and passes through the exhaust arm or
cranes to the filter unit. Large particles are removed from the air stream by the pre-filter insert (1)
with easily replaceable filter mats, and then the air strem is uniformly distributed over the entire
crosssection of the down stream collector cell (2).
The fine smoke particles are electrostatically charged with a positive direct voltage of 11,5 kV
in the ionizer section of the collector cell. In the downstream collector section, they are deposited
on the filter plates which are alternately positively and negatively charged with a direct voltage
of 5,8 kV. The after-filter insert (3) which can easily be replaced, serves both to distribute the
air stream and to filter it a second time. This filter process removes smoke particles with an
efficiency greater 98 %. For units with activated charcoal filter (4), the gaseous contaminants are
also adsobed in a further filter stage. The so cleaned air is drawn off by the fan located in the
lower section of the unit and returned to the work area. (see illustration 1).
B. Safety Precautions
Caution:
When using electrical devices, the following basic safety measures must be followed to prevent
shock, injury, or fire!
