Repair Instructions
Replacing the Hydrostatic Transmission
Cable
Removing the Hydrostatic Transmission Cable
• Place the seal on the axle, with the metal spring
facing inwards and press it in
carefully.
• Use the thick end of a 1/4" extender to
carefully
tap the seal down until it is seated in the bottom
of the axle housing. Tap only on the seal’s steel
casing.
Move the extender in a circle around the seal so
that it is evenly seated all the way around and is
tight against the axle.
• Remove the insulation tape from the axle and
repeat the entire procedure as needed for the
other axle.
• Replace the washer, spacing tube, key, and rear
wheel on the axle. Fit the circlip that holds the
wheel and the plastic cap over the end of the
axle.
• Fill the transmission’s oil container with SAE
10W/30 engine oil until the level reaches the
”MAX” mark.
• Air the transmission as described in Airing the
Hydrostatic Transmission’s Oil System.
• Run the rider’s engine and make sure that there
are no leaks from the new axle seals.
• Check the oil level after test running and top up
as needed.
Remove the frame plate by loosening the screws
(two on each side).
Loosen the hydrostatic transmission cable’s forward
lock nut a 1/4 turn and remove the spring lock.
Remove the hydrostatic transmission cable’s
forward clamp, which is attached inside the centre
console.
