Follow these step by step instructions to start welding
:
1. Switch on the machine as described in the initial installation procedure, and then rotate the ON/
OFF selector switch on the rear of the machine to the "ON" position.
2. Rotate the ignition key to UNLOCK; the key is located on the front control panel near the
emergency stop push-button, which must not be pressed.
3. Adjust the binocular. Take care when adjusting the binocular since if it is not regulated correctly
it may affect the focusing process and hence the welding quality. A cross is visible in the right
hand eyepiece, this must be aligned with the laser in order to ensure that the welding starts at the
correct point.
3.1 First of all, set the eyepiece regulator to the neutral dioptre position, repeating the operation
for both eyepieces. If the eyepieces are set to different dioptres, it will be very difficult to achieve a
precise and regular focus (Figure 50).
3.2 If the operator wears glasses, move the eyecups to the CLOSED position, then rotate them
counter-clockwise, lower them as far as they will go and lock them in position by rotating them
clockwise. If the operator does not wear glasses, remove the eyecups to the OPEN position, then
rotate them counter-clockwise to unlock them, raise them as far as they will go and lock them in
position by rotating them clockwise (figure 51).
3.3 Place an object at the focal length at a height where it is in focus and then adjust the width
of the binocular (figure 52) so that you see a single circle without shadows and a clear image when
you look through it.
4. Position the part to be welded, or on which the welding is to be carried out, and use the joystick
to move the laser pointer to the welding start point. While doing this, make sure that the machine
arms do not interfere with the object to be welded or other objects in the vicinity when in motion.
5. Adjust the parameters as described in chapter D, depending on the material to be welded. We
recommend carrying out a series of preliminary test welds on a sample of the material to be
welded in order to determine the correct welding parameter settings, staring from the values listed
on page 36.
6. Press the pedal and start welding. If you choose to use the display rather than the binocular to
monitor the welding process, make sure that you are USING THE PROTECTIVE EYEWEAR
PROVIDED.
