Small Battery Drive II User Manual DePuy Synthes 53
Precautions:
•
Generally, medical power tools will heat up if in
constant use. The cool down times should be
observed, see “Duty Cycle” section, in order to
prevent the power tool from exceeding its
acceptable surface temperature. If longer periods
of constant use are required, an additional
handpiece and/or attachment should be used.
•
Carefully observe the above recommended
duty cycles.
•
Always use new cutting tools to prevent
the heating up of the system due to reduced
cutting performance.
•
Careful maintenance of the system will
reduce heat development in the handpiece
and the attachments.
•
Above mentioned duty cycles can be reduced due
to higher loads applied and due to ambient air
temperatures above 20 °C (68 °F). This needs to be
taken into consideration during the planning of
the surgical intervention.
•
Always check the temperature of the system to
prevent overheating and possibly harming the
patient or user.
Warning:
Do not store/use this equipment in the
presence of oxygen, nitrous oxide or a mixture
consisting of flammable anesthetics and air.

These recommendations for times of use for the
attachments of the Small Battery Drive II have been
determined under average load with an ambient
air temperature of 20 °C (68 °F). Depending on the
cutting tool used and on the load applied, the heat
generation of the handpiece, attachment and / or
cutting tool can vary.
