6.1.b Washing
Before
1. Park the motorcycle out of direct
sunlight and allow it to cool.
This will prevent limescale stains
from forming.
2. Check that all plugs, covers, con-
nectors and electrical connection
elements are properly installed.
3. Be careful not to let water pene-
trate inside the silencer.
4. Remove Road dirt and oil stains
with a quality degreasing agent
and a brush with plastic bristles or
a sponge.
During
1. Rinse away any traces of de-
greaser using running water.
Avoid spraying water directly into
the muffler, on the instrument pan-
el, in the air inlet or inside other
internal areas, such as the storage
compartments under the saddle.
2. Wash the motorcycle with a quality
car cleaner mixed with fresh wa-
ter and a soft sponge. Use a used
toothbrush or a brush with plas-
tic bristles to clean hard-to-reach
places.
ATTENTION
If the motorcycle has been
exposed to salt, use cold wa-
ter. Hot water will increase
the corrosive properties of
the salt.
3. Rinse well with clean water. Re-
move all detergent residues; could
be harmful to plastic components.
After
1. Dry the motorcycle completely.
2. Polish the chrome, aluminum and
stainless-steel surfaces with a
specific product.
3. Apply anti-corrosion spray to all
metal components, including
chrome or nickel-plated surfaces.
WARNING
Do not apply silicone or oil-
based sprays to the saddles,
grips, rubber footrest brack-
ets, brake discs or tire treads.
Otherwise, the components
will become slippery, which
could cause you to lose con-
trol of the vehicle. Thorough-
ly clean the surfaces of these
components before using the
vehicle.
