Routine Maintenance
To maintain optimum performance, keep the air intake filter clean. A dirty filter reduces the efficiency of the sys-
tem and can cause erratic performance of controls. It can also result in damage to the heating element and com-
pressor. Inspect and clean the filter at least once a month or more often as conditions dictate. Replace as necessary
with a factory approved filter. Changing the filter will decrease cost of operation, save energy, prevent clogged heat
exchanger coils and reduce the risk of premature component failure.
On EZ Series VR units, the DR. VTAC dehumidifier unit filter should be periodically removed and cleaned with
mild soap and water. To access the DR. VTAC filter, remove the four (4) philips head screws securing the access
panel to the chassis and pull the filter out from unit (a pair of long-nose pliers may be used if needed).
Note: Do not operate the unit without the filter(s) in place. If a filter becomes torn or damaged, it should be
replaced immediately. Operating without the filter in place or with a damaged filter will allow dirt and dust to
reach the indoor coil and reduce the cooling, heating airflow and efficiency of the unit. Filter size required is
16”H x 20”W x 1”D.
• Coils should be inspected periodically for
lint build-up, dirt, leaves, other debris,
and for bent fins.
• Clean coils with a soft brush and
compressed air or vacuum. Do NOT use
sharp objects to clean coils.
• Clean the drain system regularly to
prevent clogging.
• In some installations, dirt or other debris
may be blown into the unit from the
outside and settle in the base pan at the
bottom of the unit. Check it periodically
and clean, if necessary.
• The fan motors are permanently
lubricated and do not require re-oiling.
• In areas of heavy snow and ice
accumulation, snow and ice should not be permitted to accumulate against the unit. As soon as practical
after such inclement weather, clean snow and ice from around the unit as much as possible, and from the
filters of the unit.
• If the unit is installed during the winter, be sure the outdoor fan turns freely before turning it on.
