Log Set Installation
If logs are not installed according to the log installation instructions,
flame impingement and improper combustion could occur and result in
soot and/or excessive production of carbon monoxide (CO), a colorless,
odorless, toxic gas.
The size and position of the log set is critical to achieve a safe, reliable
and attractive flame pattern. Any attempt to use a different log set in the
fireplace will void the warranty and will result in incomplete combustion,
sooting and poor flame quality.
1. Install the rear log on the back locating tabs
(Figures 10 and 11)

2. Install the short log (with the locating pin on top) on the left side
locating tab, flat end facing toward the back
(Figures 10 and 11)

3. Install the other short log on the right side locating tab, flat end facing
back

4. Place a layer of glowing embers (rockwool) directly over the ports
(Figure 11).
- A light layer will give a more constant rear flame.
- A heavy layer will give more glow, but may need to be adjusted
after light up to prevent sooting and poor flame quality.
5. Place volcanic stones around the perimeter of the glowing embers
(rockwool) in the areas shown in
Figure 12
.
IMPORTANT: Do not cover ports with volcanic stone!
6. Install the left and right horizontal logs as shown in
Figure 13
.
- Left horizontal log: The left end rests on the pin protruding the
short front log, with the right end resting on the burner pushed
back against the vertical step in burner.
- Right horizontal log: The right end rests on the short front log &
pushed up against the front right side of the rear log. The left end
sits on the burner between the rows of ports.
IMPORTANT: Do not cover ports with end of log!
7. Install top log on pins protruding from the back and middle right logs
(Figure 14)
