OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Once the Tape Heads (both bottom and top) have been loaded with tape and threaded
(refer to the appropriate Tape Head manual for loading and threading instructions) the
machine is ready to process regular slotted cartons. The following instructions are
presented in the order recommended for processing cartons successfully through the RSA
3036-SB Carton Sealing machine.
The RSA 3036-SB Carton Sealer has three operating modes. The operator selects these
modes, using the 3-position switch located on the bottom of the Stop/Start Control box.
Refer to Figure 18.
Figure 18
Automatic Mode:
This is the standard operating mode of the machine. In the automatic mode the Top Tape
Head Box stays in its current position until a carton arrives. If the carton is taller than the
height of the Top Tape Head Box then the front plate is depressed and the head rises. If
the carton is shorter than the height of the Top Tape Head Box the bottom switch is
covered and the Top Tape Head Box lowers.
1.
Ensure that the compressed air is plugged and at the right pressure, 90 PSI.
2.
Turn the control switch placed under the start button to "AUTO" (Automatic).
3.
Press the start button, the drives will start.
4.
Introduce a carton with the flaps held in the closed position so the proper switch is
actuated. Do not place hands in front of carton.
5.
The Top Tape Head Box will rise or fall to set itself at the height of the carton.
6.
When the front plate or bottom plate is depressed and the bottom switch is
covered, the side drives will close.
