2.b.4. Substitute/delete characters before transmission
You can configure the MicroBar NX to systematically redefine or delete specific characters
received in the input data—for example, you may want to transmit the number “1” every
time you read the letter “A” in the input data, or you may want to systematically remove all
zeros, spaces or hyphens from the input data.
1. Scan Define Substitution Characters.
2. Scan the ASCII code of the character you want to redefine (or delete!).

3. Scan the ASCII code of the substitution character you want to define—if the substitution
character is ASCII character DEL (7Fh), the input character will be systematically
deleted each time it is encountered.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to define other substitution pairs if required.
5. Scan End Selection to finish.
You can define a maximum of 80 substitution pairs.
Reset All Substitution Definitions removes all the current substitution definitions–no input
characters are redefined before transmission.
Cancel Current Definition In Progress allows you to abort a definition in progress without
scanning End Selection—the values entered are not taken into account.
